Bio: Masuo showed formidable skills in piloting Mobile Suits due to his history as a test pilot for Iris Corporation Japan. He was forced to quit being a test pilot when the Earth Sphere Federation called for nationalisation of military contractors with Iris Corporation's military research division disbanded and absorbed into the Earth Sphere Federation Army.

Sugita escaped with his Union Flag Marine Package Swordfish Type from Yokosuka Base and eventually to Philippine islands, where he joins Katharon after an unsuccessful attempt at resistance with Japanese Nationalists. He participated in missions that utilised the Marine Package or other Mobile Suits, making him a fairly balanced member of the group.
